...happy birthday to Kate...

I made this table runner for Kate's birthday present. It caused me some heartache when I couldn't get the free-motion quilting thing figured out, but when I did....wow oh wow. It was so fun! I can't wait to try it again!

So, this is my first quilting project that uses free-motion quilting done by me! And, I machine sewed the binding on. I don't love the binding machine sewed on, but I was in a hurry to get it done for Kate's birthday tomorrow. I probably will not machine sew binding on a quilt, but I would probably do a table runner again.

I also figured out a good way to hang my small projects on the doors of a cabinet in the craft room with big binder clips. Works pretty good....

I'm only showing you the back so that I can hopefully show my improvement over time. :) Otherwise, it's embarrassing!
Happy Birthday Kate! I value your friendship and am so thankful to have you in my life. I can't wait to meet Baby J/Madiso! Keep her safe in there for a little longer though!

Pattern: On the Dot by Pieces from My Heart (Sandy Gervais)
Fabric: Verna by Kate Spain
Quilted by: MARCIE!!

Okay I love it!!!!!!! By the way my birthday is April 23rd if you feel the need to make me one. :)

I have never done free motion quilting, but I would ♥ too. I'll bet my machine wouldn't let me!

Good job Marcie!! I attempted to machine quilt with my VERY simple machine. Didn't work so well. Good thing it was on scrap fabric!! I need a bigger working space, which means an upgrading machine. Someday!! I love the circles in the runner.
