[ My First Quilt ]

Camille posted this challenge to blog about first quilt projects. I've only been quilting for 6 months, but I feel like I've already come a long way!
March 2009
Here's my first quilt, a baby quilt that I gave to sweet Audrey Frances Park. It has a thick, non-soft batting and is tied. Neither of which I care for.

June 2009
Here's my latest quilt. I LOVE it! It has Warm and White batting (*heart*) and is quilted using the stitch in the ditch method (*heart*).

Something I learned along the way...

I love tools...I love Moda fabric...I need to cut straight (it's real important)...I want to learn to stipple quilt...I feel a longing in my soul to quilt at times...I like looking at blogs for inspiration and to see what is the new fad...these are just the superficial things!

I've learned so much more in technique. I learned to read a pattern...I learned to cut...I learned what a fat quarter is...I learned to piece...I learned to use fusible fleece and heat n bond...I learned to make a purse...I learned that a seam ripper is valuable...I learned to thread a bobbin on my machine...and that there is a thread cutter on my machine!...I got to know my machine, what makes it tick and what makes it work...my machine isn't in time out near as much as it used to be!...I learned that I love giving away things I've made...but just as much, I love keeping something that I've worked hard on.

I've learned a lot in these past few months, but I have so much more to learn. I can't wait!

Yeah it's an addicting craft for sure. The best advice for stippling is "get the gloves" I could teach anyone now that I have them...practice practice and I love doing it...

I love your quilts! And I'm glad I found a newbie too. Although you've been doing it for 6 months. I'm going to be taking my first class very soon. I joined in the quilt parade too but I could only show a quilt top. I love it though. Even with it's imperfections! I think I've been dreaming quilts lately! LOL! So fun to see everyones love of quilting!
