.los angeles or bust.
My cousin Craig has accepted a new job…which is located in Marina del Ray! So – he’s off to Los Angeles tomorrow!
His Mom hosted a Going Away Party, so we went and represented the Heider fam!
We had a Heider cousin picture on the hearth just like old times. We are missing Lisa and Melissa.
Grandma and Craig
We had to take some self-portraits, of course!
“DON’T touch me!” She likes to stick her finger right up next to me and say, “I’m not touching you! I’m not touching you!”
Marcia and Carla:
Karlye started calling me Marcia a few weeks ago, which I don’t love, but it’s not really worth the fight to get her to stop. Today I decided I needed to come up with something equally as dreadful to call her. So, Carla it is. She was offended and said Carla reminded her of this awful lady that my Mom had to work with in the CHS library yeas ago, “but it’s ok because her name was with a ‘C’ and mine is with a ‘K’.” Nope, no it’s not! Carla with a C!
Good luck on your new adventure Craig! I know you’ll feel right at home in no time! Maybe we should plan a cousin trip to LA?! How fun would that be!?

This is Shane Strohmaier, the grandson of Grandma’s BFF – he wanted to get a picture with Grandma to show his Grandma!
.FIRE!.
Yesterday, Mom & I were on our way home from Priest Lake when Dad called and said there was a fire across the road from our house!
It burned a good section of the land between our road and the highway – just weeds, but got too close for comfort to our home!
Pretty crazy! Thankful for the awesome firefighters that help take care of us!

.an update from the craft room.
I haven’t spent too much time in the craft room lately – lots going on at work and outside of work. It’s finally summer now and I can’t wait to get a bunch of projects done!
I finished this table runner a few weeks ago and delivered it last night to Sarah McGary & Dexter Allred’s wedding reception. Their reception was supposed to be outside at Sarah’s parent’s home, but due to rain (and lots of it!), the reception had to be moved inside. It was just as wonderful inside as it would’ve been outside. Sarah was a beautiful bride, of course! Best of luck to them as they begin their journey as husband and wife!
I love this pattern – and the free motion quilting I get to do on it!
Fabric: Hello Luscious! by Urban Chiks
I whipped this quilt block out this morning…a few months ago, I signed up for Fat Quarter Shop’s Mystery Block of the Month club. When I saw it was using Bonnie & Camille’s Vintage Modern fabric, I was in! I received the first block last week and got to finally sew it together today! If the rest of the blocks are this cute, I’ll be anxiously anticipating their arrival each month!

For Father’s Day today, we took our Dad’s to the Ice Harbor Brewery in Kennewick for some delicious food and good beer!
We love our Dad’s!! :)

.candyland.
Melissa’s dance recital, “Candyland” was on Sunday – her five classes of students did great dancing to candy themed songs!
So many people came to support Melissa and her dancers! They had a surprise when Melissa came out and danced a few steps by herself and then with each of the groups!
The littlest ones stole the show, of course! They were so cute!
They all did such a wonderful job – and will miss Miss Melissa so much next year!
.first day of {summer}.
So today was the first day of summer…for the students! It was pretty quiet at work today. Tim, Todd, & Jennifer were at meetings in the Central Office and Jan was gone, so just Jessica, Esther, & I were left in the office. We teased that we’d close up the office and go out for breakfast…and then thought, hmm…that sounds pretty good! So we called in an order to Michael Jay’s & then Esther & I went to get it! We enjoyed a lovely brunch in the staff room! Such fun – maybe a great new tradition?!
This afternoon I got my hair cut and colored and then met up with the family to celebrate Amber & Vicky’s birthdays. Love hanging out with them!
Pretty darn good day – and now 4 work days until my summer! :) YAY!

.last day of school.
Today was the last day of school for the students…YAY! Now the real work can get done! I have five more days of work and then my summer begins! Whoop whoop!
Mom & I went to the Tri-Cities after school to get Starbucks, shop a little, and go to dinner. We stopped in to see Karlye at Buckle and I found this cool necklace:
I also came home to a package of clothes from Old Navy that I’d ordered! New outfit tomorrow!
Karlye was just getting off work when we got there, so she came to dinner with us! I feel so lucky to get to live close to my family to be able to hang out with them often!
Yay for summer!
P.S. and Melissa accepted a job today as a 2nd grade teacher at Crestwood Elementary in Sumner, WA! So happy for her!

.sewing sewing sewing.
I have been trying to get lots and lots of table runners done for all the couples that are getting married this summer. I finished two more this weekend and just have to sew the binding on a 3rd. That will be 4 down – 3 (I think?!) to go!
I love how this one turned out! These are all leftovers from a quilt I made (haven’t shared it yet!). I love using up scraps!
I think it turned out pretty great!
And who doesn’t love coral and aqua right now?!

Pattern: made up by me!
Quilted by me!
This is a pattern that I’ve made before, but I really like how quick it is to put together and how awesome it turns out!
It is so long and leaves quite an impact!
I zig zagged stitched around each circle in light brown. I think it blends in nicely!

Quilted by me!
This quilt I’ve had done for a few weeks but just hadn’t taken the pictures yet. Grandma helped me out this afternoon! :)
I was working on this one when our flood happened, so there was a bit of delay in completing it! This one used all scraps too!
It was hard to get a good picture without a shadow…hate that!
All of the squares are ruffled, which were really fun to make! I straight line quilted 1/2” from all the seams, making a box around the ruffled squares.

and finally – I couldn’t resist including a picture of Samson enjoying his new bed in the craft room! :)
