.beta st. patrick’s day party.

We had our Beta St. Patrick’s Day party tonight! It is always a fun night with delicious food!

We had the Shamrock Stomp – musical chairs with shamrocks – that is always a competitive crowd pleaser!

Lots of green – just the way Jessica likes it!

It's always a fun night to be with the Beta Babes!

.beta christmas.

We had our very fun, always entertaining, not to be missed Beta Christmas Party tonight at Amy’s. We did the traditional games – guess the weight and mega tape wrapped relay. The best one is the gift exchange.

I took a pillow and table runner this year. Kelly opened it as the very first gift to be opened.

IMG_3543

It got traded around to practically every person throughout the night!

 IMG_3544

Kate opened this candy cane decoration…or is it a “J?” She didn’t end up with it though…but she did get a wreath that was made of the same material.

IMG_3545

Amy opened a gift that had this sign, some chocolate, wine, and coffee. I stole it from a her a few times because I thought that sign would be perfect in my office! She stole it back and ended up getting to keep it!

IMG_3546

Karen is trying to steal the table runner from Eileen – but Eileen is sitting on it!

IMG_3548

I think everyone ended up with something they were satisfied with!

We celebrated Amy’s 40th birthday on 12/12/12 with a Donna Seely cake! YUM!

IMG_3550

Our group – missing Martha and Sharon – we all wore black and bling in honor of Amy’s big bad 4-0!

IMG_3552

Of course, we had to have a photo shoot!

Check out that bling!!

 IMG_3566 IMG_3567

Kara and Karen – the masters of the gift exchange game! Because of these two, I can see why sometimes the game is called “Dirty Santa!”

IMG_3568

Karlye & Jess – they had an alliance to get the table runner & pillow for Jessica. Success!

.beta halloween party.

We had our annual Beta Halloween Party the other night – as always, it is fun to dress up and to see what costumes everyone else thinks up!

IMG_3320

We had a smaller group this year for the party, but still fun!

IMG_3323

We had to go trick-or-treating around the neighborhood for canned food for the Food Bank. I grumbled at the beginning – since it was cold outside and, um, how embarrassing to show up trick-or-treating a week early?! It ended up being a lot of fun and we had a lot of laughs!

IMG_3329

Maren took the lead and knocked on doors. She was dressed up as crayon and would say, “We’re trick-or-treating for food for the food bank…and school supplies!” Then, if they hesitated at all, she would yell at the people that opened the door: “Go grab a can of something!”
TOO funny!

 IMG_3334

We had dinner, opened Secret Sister gifts, and then went to Karen’s to trick-or-treat her since she didn’t come to the party!

IMG_3336

Very fun evening – we missed everyone that couldn’t come!

.so long, farewell.

We had a Beta style going away party tonight for Kelly & Melissa. Kelly is moving to Olympia and Melissa is moving to Puyallup. They’ve both promised to come back once in a while – and we’ll hold them to it!

Kamryn got to come enjoy the party too – she loved on Samson as usual! She likes to kiss him, have him kiss her, pet him, rub his belly, and brush his hair. :)

And ride him?! AH!

My Mom found these old Glamour Shot pictures of Melissa and I from about 1994 and Karlye thinks they’re SOOOOO funny! She has been posing “Glamour Shot” style ever since, so we had to have a photo shoot tonight after the party!

“Ok Karlye, you wierdo!”

Oops – Melissa, still Glamour Shots, not gangsta style!

Kate told me she had something in her car for me and it was this basket for my quilts! I have seen pictures online of quilts stored like this and I LOVE it! Karlye and I rolled mine up and they fit perfectly! I love love love it!

Everyone brought appetizers to share tonight, so I used the opportunity to try out some more recipes from Pinterest!

Jessica had this hot corn dip at her Pampered Chef party & I thought it was delish! It’s really easy to make and wows the crowd!

Hot Corn Dip
From Gina Marie's Kitchen

hot-corn-dip1

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack
2 tbs chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, diced small
1 small can (4oz) diced green chilies, undrained
1/2 cup Mayo
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1 11oz can of corn, drained
1 small tomato
2 tbs cilantro, chopped
2 tbs green onions, sliced thin

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  1. Mix the cheeses, chipotle and green peppers, mayo, garlic powder and corn together. Pour into an oven safe dish.
  2. Bake 20 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly
  3. Top with diced tomatoes, green onions, and cilantro. Serve immediately with tortilla chips.

Strawberry Cheesecake Salad
From Time for Supper

IMG_0414

12 oz. whipped topping
1 small package of cheesecake pudding (powder)
3 (6 oz) strawberry yogurts (I use Yoplait)
1 lb fresh strawberries, sliced
3 bananas, sliced (add just before serving or they brown)
miniature marshmallows (add just before serving)
Thaw whipped topping and in a large salad bowl stir together whipped topping, yogurts, and pudding powder. Let this set up in the fridge for at least an hour before serving. Wash and slice strawberries. You can add strawberries to salad or wait to add them with sliced bananas and marshmallows just before serving. Keep refrigerated.

.beta babes party 50s style.

We had our final Beta gathering for the year last night before we take our summer break. The party planners asked everyone to dress 50s style, so we knew we were in for a good time!

IMG_1952

The gals had box lunch dinners for us with sandwiches in waxed paper tied with string, potato salad, chips, classic Coke in a bottle, and hot fudge sundaes for dessert.

  IMG_1954

We played a few games including Name That Tune (made me want to create a “Wake Up Little Susie” Pandora station at work today!), took a 50s quiz, learned the Locomotion, and had a bubble gum blowing contest!

Go Martha!

 IMG_1955  IMG_1957 IMG_1958

oops – got a little in the hair!

 IMG_1959

Kate got a few good sized ones too!

 IMG_1960

We took our family picture – minus Maren. Bummer. :)

 IMG_1961

It took a few tries before we got a decent one! SO silly!

IMG_1963  IMG_1965 IMG_1966  IMG_1968

This was our last Beta with all four of us since Melissa is moving next month. It was fun to share Beta all together!
