.candyland.

Melissa’s dance recital, “Candyland” was on Sunday – her five classes of students did great dancing to candy themed songs!

So many people came to support Melissa and her dancers! They had a surprise when Melissa came out and danced a few steps by herself and then with each of the groups!

The littlest ones stole the show, of course! They were so cute!

They all did such a wonderful job – and will miss Miss Melissa so much next year!

.first day of {summer}.

So today was the first day of summer…for the students! It was pretty quiet at work today. Tim, Todd, & Jennifer were at meetings in the Central Office and Jan was gone, so just Jessica, Esther, & I were left in the office. We teased that we’d close up the office and go out for breakfast…and then thought, hmm…that sounds pretty good! So we called in an order to Michael Jay’s & then Esther & I went to get it! We enjoyed a lovely brunch in the staff room! Such fun – maybe a great new tradition?!

This afternoon I got my hair cut and colored and then met up with the family to celebrate Amber & Vicky’s birthdays. Love hanging out with them!

Pretty darn good day – and now 4 work days until my summer! :) YAY!

.last day of school.

Today was the last day of school for the students…YAY! Now the real work can get done! I have five more days of work and then my summer begins! Whoop whoop!

Mom & I went to the Tri-Cities after school to get Starbucks, shop a little, and go to dinner. We stopped in to see Karlye at Buckle and I found this cool necklace:

I also came home to a package of clothes from Old Navy that I’d ordered! New outfit tomorrow!

Karlye was just getting off work when we got there, so she came to dinner with us! I feel so lucky to get to live close to my family to be able to hang out with them often!

Yay for summer!

P.S. and Melissa accepted a job today as a 2nd grade teacher at Crestwood Elementary in Sumner, WA! So happy for her!

.sewing sewing sewing.

I have been trying to get lots and lots of table runners done for all the couples that are getting married this summer. I finished two more this weekend and just have to sew the binding on a 3rd. That will be 4 down – 3 (I think?!) to go!

I love how this one turned out! These are all leftovers from a quilt I made (haven’t shared it yet!). I love using up scraps!

I think it turned out pretty great!

And who doesn’t love coral and aqua right now?!

This is a pattern that I’ve made before, but I really like how quick it is to put together and how awesome it turns out!

It is so long and leaves quite an impact!

I zig zagged stitched around each circle in light brown. I think it blends in nicely!

This quilt I’ve had done for a few weeks but just hadn’t taken the pictures yet. Grandma helped me out this afternoon! :)

I was working on this one when our flood happened, so there was a bit of delay in completing it! This one used all scraps too!

  june (2)

It was hard to get a good picture without a shadow…hate that!

 june (3)

All of the squares are ruffled, which were really fun to make! I straight line quilted 1/2” from all the seams, making a box around the ruffled squares.

and finally – I couldn’t resist including a picture of Samson enjoying his new bed in the craft room! :)

.kamryn time!.

Kamryn got to come over again on Friday afternoon. Her Dad has been in the hospital this week with an infection that manifested in his leg, so she has been hanging out with all her fans this week! We were lucky to get to have our turn on Friday!

Melissa & Ryan came for dinner, so I did Kamryn’s hair and she found my necklace to put on…she looked adorable!

I was trying to get her to take a picture to send to her Mom & Dad and it wasn’t working – she was not digging it!

This new thing she’s been doing with Samson is so funny! She likes it when Samson licks her, but not in the face, so she puts her head down so he’ll lick the top of her head!

 photo 5

She was spinning and jumping and spinning and jumping and saying the ABC’s over and over and over again! I don’t know how she wasn’t exhausted!

Melissa polished her toenails…

and they spelled everyone’s names over and over again on the Magna Doodle. That smart little girl can spell her name! She’s 2!!

It is so much fun to have Kamryn come play – she is such a joy! She makes us laugh and smile so much. Love that girl!

.play time!.

Kamryn came over to play this afternoon…after watching Finding Nemo, having a sucker, and a handful of candy corns, she finally warmed up to being here and we could really play! Karlye also came up and had some work to do in the craft room, so we headed downstairs.

I got out the Little People toys while Karlye & I were in the craft room. Kamryn had a great time with them!

Karlye was working on her jewelry mirror – she got a little help from Kamryn!

The finished product! SO pretty!

.oldies but goodies.

Tonight some friends from high school and I got together for dinner…this happens so rarely, so it was really fun to get to spend time with them!
photo 2
Shannon is in town this week for her sister Allyson’s graduation – and the rest of us live around here, but never make the time to get together – so thanks, Shan, for helping us take the time to get together!

Libby, Lindsay, Shannon, Kelli, & Marcie
even Miss Harper (2 1/2 weeks old!) got to have her first girls night out!

I feel like I write about my friends a lot on my blog – but I still feel like I need to write more!
These girls have been such an integral piece of the fabric of my life. Our lives are interwoven with inside jokes & memories and shared experiences. I am so lucky to have them in my life and to share a friendship that lasts for years and years. I’ve known Kelli & Lindsay since before kindergarten! Even though we don’t get to see each other often or talk much, I still count them as dear friends and would do anything for them!
We missed you, Jenn, Jilayne, & Christine – and everyone else that doesn’t live around here. Hope it’s not such a long time before our next get together!

.feeling the love.

We’ve been dong some End of Course exam testing this week at CHS, so yesterday & today the students were in one place for four hours, whether they were testing or not. The things they come up with to keep themselves occupied for four hours are pretty funny. That’s how I got my flowers yesterday….and today, I looked up above my computer monitor and saw this:

photo 1

Some free time in art was used on Photoshop, maybe?

I love it! Thanks Kirston! You rock!

.flower bouquet.

This morning, three lovely CHS students brought me this bouquet of flowers…

photo 2

They were much prettier this morning, but had lost some pizzazz by this afternoon.

 photo 3

I’ll never tell where the girls picked them from…the location may or may not be legal to pick flowers from. ;)

Thanks Madi, Kayla, & Morgan – you made my day!
